Works Every Time, Most of the Time.

To do: Many things.
Doing: None of those things.

ADHD meds are in full effect and I’m taking advantage of the motivation to write! Really should replace my keyboard, the o is missing and is currently just a rubber blob which throws me off every time I hit it. I wonder if other people with ADHD (or not) get thrown off by really minor things? For example, I came home today with a pretty clear idea of what I had to do alas, I had mail and husband face had text me some updates so I’ve ended up being here for over an hour doing absolutely nothing I was supposed to do.

I usually do my creative writing on a Monday or a Wednesday (anyone else say WED-NES-DAY in their head when writing it? No? Cool beans). I’m writing a piece on mermaids this week, not my favourite topic BUT I am going for humour over fantasy so maybe I’ll like it in the end, who knows. I like to use different fonts depending on what I’m working on, cannot stand Times New Roman ugh!

The next few weeks are going to be chaos, there’s another half term approaching (although I’m pretty sure they’ve only been back like a week, I’m sure the teachers would all agree..) which means on top of the everyday stuff my brain is attempting to do some mental olympics in preparation for that. It’s not just me that’s neurospicy in our house, some most of our children are neurodivergent and all have very different and usually opposing needs (just for shits and giggles) which makes a half term without (or even with) a routine ‘challenging’. And by challenging what I actually mean is there’s usually a ‘lets all go to Wales for some sea air on a whim’ suggestion from me when we’re all too overwhelmed (works every time, most of the time). Basically, you can never prepare enough but just winging it isn’t an option in our house. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail is absolutely accurate for our half terms. Oh and an iPad with a movie downloaded to watch in the car on long journeys will* change your life! Movie gets decided in advance based on what everyone likes and as one of our children likes to count down the exact minutes to our destination (making sure to check approximately every 3 minutes) we can usually get away with saying something like ‘it’s one movie and an episode away’ instead, how’s that for a slice of fried gold?

Alas, nonsense.

*may change your life though not dramatically, will was a bit of a stretch.
